System overview

The DAB Esytank 500 with Esybox Mini3 is a complete, ready-to-install pressure boosting system pairing DAB’s award-winning Esybox Mini3 variable-speed pump with a 480-litre HDPE break tank. Designed for domestic and light commercial properties where the incoming mains is the limiting factor — whether through low pressure, restricted flow, or regulatory requirement.

Mains water fills the Esytank gradually through a float valve. The Esybox Mini3 then draws from the tank and delivers constant boosted pressure to every outlet on demand. The variable-speed inverter continuously adjusts to match real-time demand — DAB rate the energy saving at up to 50% compared with fixed-speed equivalents.

Supplied complete with Esydock, suction pipe with foot valve, delivery pipe, mains fill float valve, and overflow fitting. The Esybox Mini3 is WRAS approved for potable water; the Esytank is manufactured from food-grade HDPE. Backed by a 3-year DAB manufacturer warranty.

Why the tank? Why not just a pump?

The Esybox Mini3 cannot connect directly to the mains in installations where regulations require a break (Category 5 fluid category) between the mains supply and any installation that re-pressurises water. A break tank fulfils that requirement.

But the Esytank does more than just satisfy regulations — it acts as a reservoir, filling slowly during low-demand periods and holding 480 litres ready for peak draw. Even if your incoming mains delivers only a trickle, the system can still supply a power shower, running bath, and washing machine simultaneously, because the pump is drawing from the tank, not waiting on the mains.

Pump performance curve

The chart shows the relationship between flow rate and head for the Esybox Mini3 pump. As demand increases, the variable-speed inverter increases output — but as with any pump, available pressure decreases as flow rises. The 45 l/min figure is the realistic working flow at 3 bar, the pressure most domestic systems are calibrated to.

What’s the difference between the Mini3 and the standard Esybox?

The Esybox Mini3 is a more compact pump rated at 45 l/min at 3 bar, suited to smaller homes and lower-demand applications. The standard Esybox is the larger flagship at 80 l/min at 3 bar, for higher-demand properties. If you have 3+ bathrooms running simultaneously or a 5+ bedroom home, the standard Esybox version is the better fit. Contact us if you’d like help sizing.

Why is it called the Esytank 500 if the useable capacity is 480 litres?

The “500” is DAB’s product designation. The actual useable capacity is 480 litres once the float valve, overflow level, and inlet/outlet allowances are accounted for. We use 480 L in technical specifications and sizing calculations to give you an accurate working figure.

Why do I need a tank — can’t I just use the pump on its own?

The Esybox Mini3 cannot connect directly to the mains in most installations — UK water regulations require a break tank to prevent backflow contamination, and the Esytank fulfils that role. It also stores 480 litres of water, so the system can deliver high flow rates during peak demand even if your mains supply is slow. If your mains pressure and flow are already adequate and you only need pressure boosting, contact us for advice on a pump-only alternative.

Where can I install it?

The system is designed for indoor fixed installation — typically a utility room, cellar, garage, or plant room. The 595 mm tank width is dimensioned to fit through standard cellar doorways. Outdoor installation requires the optional DAB Esycover kit.

Is 480 litres enough for my property?

For most domestic properties up to four bedrooms with 1–2 bathrooms in regular use, 480 litres is sufficient provided the mains can refill the tank between peak demand periods. If you need more capacity, the Esytank’s modular design lets you couple auxiliary tanks on three sides. Is the Mini3 WRAS approved for drinking water?

Yes — the Esybox Mini3 is WRAS approved, confirming it is safe and legal for potable water in the UK. The Esytank is manufactured from food-grade HDPE and is suitable for drinking water storage, but does not hold its own WRAS approval. Where a fully WRAS-approved tank is required by specification, the WaterBoost Slimline or Advant ranges offer UK-manufactured WRAS alternatives.

Standard delivery is free on most orders. Some items may incur a delivery charge depending on weight, size or value. Any applicable charge will be displayed at checkout.

Deliveries will typically be made between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Next day delivery:
Next working day delivery is available for a £16.50 + VAT delivery charge.

Orders must be placed before 12 noon to qualify for next working day delivery. Orders placed after 12 noon on Thursday but before noon on Friday will be delivered the following Monday. Orders placed after 12 noon on Friday will be delivered on Tuesday.
