The Evak Hippo 50-75 (110V) is the 0.75 HP mid-range sewage pump in the Hippo family, in the UK construction-market 110V CTE variant for use with standard building-site transformers. 0.55 kW / 0.75 HP single-phase motor, 2″ discharge, cast iron pump body with vortex impeller and 50 mm free passage.
Genuine step up from the 50-50 — 390 L/min max flow at 10 m max head (vs 330 L/min and 8 m). Suits heavier site duties, deeper sumps, and higher-head groundworks dewatering where the 0.5 HP variant is under-specified.

More about this product
The Evak Hippo 50-75 (110V) is the mid-range Hippo, specifically built for the UK construction market with a 110V CTE motor winding for use with standard building-site transformers. A 0.55 kW / 0.75 HP 2-pole single-phase motor drives a vortex impeller through a heat-treated stainless steel shaft, supported by NTN long-life ball bearings.
Compared with the 0.5 HP 50-50, this variant delivers 390 L/min at up to 10 m of head — 18% more flow and 25% more lift, at the same 2″ discharge and 50 mm free passage. Suits deeper sumps, longer discharge runs, and heavier construction site duty where the entry variant is at its limit.
The 50 mm full free passage vortex impeller is designed to handle raw sewage and heavy solids without clogging — a genuine step up from the 35–40 mm free passage typical of comparable-sized pumps. The motor housing is AISI 304 stainless steel with a PA66+30GF glass-reinforced nylon motor cover. Twin EKK Eagle Burgmann mechanical seals (upper Ca/Ce, lower SiC/SiC) run in an oil chamber with an NBR lip seal. Klixon auto-cut thermal protection safeguards the motor. Supplied as automatic with float switch, or manual for use with external level controllers.

What is a submersible pump?
A submersible pump is designed to operate fully submerged in the liquid it is moving. The motor is sealed inside the pump body and cooled by the surrounding water. Submersibles are used for drainage, sewage, septic tanks, deep wells and boreholes, and for raising water from sumps, cellars and floodwater. Many stocked at Anglian Pumping handle solids in suspension.
Can submersible pumps handle solids and sewage?
Yes – some submersibles are designed for clean water only, others handle solids up to 50 mm or full raw sewage. Anglian Pumping stocks ABS, BBC, Flygt and T-T Submersibles ranges that include vortex, single channel and grinder impellers for different solids handling requirements. Always match the pump to the maximum solid size and the type of effluent it will see.
When should I use a submersible pump instead of a surface pump?
Use a submersible when the water level is more than around 8 metres below the pump installation point – surface pumps cannot self-prime beyond that depth. Submersibles are also better when the liquid contains solids, when noise must be minimised, or when the pump needs to operate in confined spaces such as sumps and chambers where a surface pump would not fit.
