The Evak Hippo 50-50 (400V) is the entry-point sewage pump in the Hippo range, in 400V three-phase for commercial and light-industrial installations with 3-phase distribution. 0.37 kW / 0.5 HP three-phase motor, 2″ discharge, cast iron pump body with vortex impeller and 50 mm free passage.
Full EN-GJL-200 cast iron pump volute, AISI 304 stainless motor housing, twin EKK Eagle Burgmann mechanical seals in oil chamber. Three-phase operation draws just 1.1 A at full load — ideal for permanent installations with dedicated 3-phase supply, overload protection, and motor starter.

The Evak Hippo 50-50 (400V) is the entry-point in the Hippo range in three-phase configuration, built for permanent commercial and light-industrial installations with dedicated 400V distribution. A 0.37 kW / 0.5 HP 2-pole three-phase motor drives a vortex impeller through a heat-treated stainless steel shaft, supported by NTN long-life ball bearings.
The 50 mm full free passage vortex impeller is designed to handle raw sewage and heavy solids without clogging — a genuine step up from the 35–40 mm free passage typical of comparable-sized pumps. Combined with the EN-GJL-200 cast iron pump volute, this makes the Hippo 50-50 the workhorse choice for permanent small-scale sewage stations where 3-phase distribution is available and unattended reliability matters.
Three-phase 400V operation delivers smoother start-up, no starting capacitor, and lower running current per phase than single-phase equivalents — better for continuous-duty operation and reduces mains distribution loading. The motor housing is AISI 304 stainless steel with a PA66+30GF glass-reinforced nylon motor cover. Twin EKK Eagle Burgmann mechanical seals (upper Ca/Ce, lower SiC/SiC) run in an oil chamber with an NBR lip seal. External overload protection required — supply with a suitable motor starter and level controller.

Standard delivery is free on most orders. Some items may incur a delivery charge depending on weight, size or value. Any applicable charge will be displayed at checkout.
Deliveries will typically be made between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
Next day delivery:
Next working day delivery is available for a £16.50 + VAT delivery charge.
Orders must be placed before 12 noon to qualify for next working day delivery. Orders placed after 12 noon on Thursday but before noon on Friday will be delivered the following Monday. Orders placed after 12 noon on Friday will be delivered on Tuesday.

What is a submersible pump?
A submersible pump is designed to operate fully submerged in the liquid it is moving. The motor is sealed inside the pump body and cooled by the surrounding water. Submersibles are used for drainage, sewage, septic tanks, deep wells and boreholes, and for raising water from sumps, cellars and floodwater. Many stocked at Anglian Pumping handle solids in suspension.
Can submersible pumps handle solids and sewage?
Yes – some submersibles are designed for clean water only, others handle solids up to 50 mm or full raw sewage. Anglian Pumping stocks ABS, BBC, Flygt and T-T Submersibles ranges that include vortex, single channel and grinder impellers for different solids handling requirements. Always match the pump to the maximum solid size and the type of effluent it will see.
When should I use a submersible pump instead of a surface pump?
Use a submersible when the water level is more than around 8 metres below the pump installation point – surface pumps cannot self-prime beyond that depth. Submersibles are also better when the liquid contains solids, when noise must be minimised, or when the pump needs to operate in confined spaces such as sumps and chambers where a surface pump would not fit.
