The Evak Hippo 50-200 (230V) is the flagship of the Hippo range, in 230V single-phase for standard mains supply. 1.5 kW / 2 HP single-phase motor, 2″ discharge, full cast iron construction with vortex impeller and 50 mm free passage.

Highest performance in the standard Hippo range — 660 L/min max flow at 15.5 m max head. 14% more flow and 24% more lift than the 1.5 HP 50-150, at the same industrial-grade construction: full EN-GJL-200 cast iron motor cover, Class F insulation, and heavy-duty design for continuous duty.

Full Description

The Evak Hippo 50-200 (230V) is the flagship of the Hippo range — the top-performing pump in Evak’s cast iron 2″ submersible sewage family. A 1.5 kW / 2 HP 2-pole single-phase motor drives a vortex impeller through a heat-treated stainless steel shaft, supported by NTN long-life ball bearings.

Compared with the 1.5 HP 50-150, this variant delivers 660 L/min at up to 15.5 m of head — 14% more flow and 24% more lift, on the same industrial-grade construction. Both variants share full cast iron motor covers, Class F insulation, and the identical body geometry; the 50-200 is a stronger motor pushing the same hydraulics harder. Choose this variant when the duty needs sustained high lift — deep sewage stations, industrial process wastewater with significant head, and multi-property developments with genuine flow demands.

The 50 mm full free passage vortex impeller continues across the range, supported by industrial-grade full cast iron construction throughout. The motor housing is AISI 304 stainless steel. Twin EKK Eagle Burgmann mechanical seals (upper Ca/Ce, lower SiC/SiC) run in an oil chamber with an NBR lip seal. Klixon auto-cut thermal protection safeguards the motor. Supplied as automatic with float switch, or manual for use with external level controllers.

Full cast iron construction

EN-GJL-200 cast iron throughout — pump casing, impeller, oil chamber, bracket, seal housing, and motor cover. Industrial-grade construction across the whole pressure envelope.

Class F insulation

Better thermal margin for continuous-duty operation at 2 HP under sustained load — matched to the industrial applications this pump is aimed at.

50 mm vortex impeller

Recessed vortex design giving full 50 mm free passage — consistent with the whole Hippo range, handles typical sewage solids without clogging.

Stainless motor housing

AISI 304 stainless steel motor housing over the stator, with AISI 410 heat-treated stainless shaft. Nylon 6 handle.

Twin silicon carbide seal

EKK Eagle Burgmann double mechanical seal — upper Ca/Ce, lower SiC/SiC — running in oil chamber with NBR lip seal.

Standard delivery is free on most orders. Some items may incur a delivery charge depending on weight, size or value. Any applicable charge will be displayed at checkout.

Deliveries will typically be made between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Next day delivery:
Next working day delivery is available for a £16.50 + VAT delivery charge.

Orders must be placed before 12 noon to qualify for next working day delivery. Orders placed after 12 noon on Thursday but before noon on Friday will be delivered the following Monday. Orders placed after 12 noon on Friday will be delivered on Tuesday.

What is a submersible pump?

A submersible pump is designed to operate fully submerged in the liquid it is moving. The motor is sealed inside the pump body and cooled by the surrounding water. Submersibles are used for drainage, sewage, septic tanks, deep wells and boreholes, and for raising water from sumps, cellars and floodwater. Many stocked at Anglian Pumping handle solids in suspension.

Can submersible pumps handle solids and sewage?

Yes – some submersibles are designed for clean water only, others handle solids up to 50 mm or full raw sewage. Anglian Pumping stocks ABS, BBC, Flygt and T-T Submersibles ranges that include vortex, single channel and grinder impellers for different solids handling requirements. Always match the pump to the maximum solid size and the type of effluent it will see.

When should I use a submersible pump instead of a surface pump?

Use a submersible when the water level is more than around 8 metres below the pump installation point – surface pumps cannot self-prime beyond that depth. Submersibles are also better when the liquid contains solids, when noise must be minimised, or when the pump needs to operate in confined spaces such as sumps and chambers where a surface pump would not fit.
