More about this product
Product overview
The Pedrollo RXm 5-GM is a 1.1 kW (1.5 HP) stainless steel submersible drainage pump for clear water on a 230 V single-phase supply, covering 20 to 320 l/min with a working head of 19.5 m down to 5 m. A vertical magnetic float switch starts and stops the pump with the water level.
RX pumps are made entirely of stainless steel: AISI 304 outer sleeve, suction filter, diffuser, impeller and motor casing, with an AISI 431 shaft. A double shaft seal with an oil chamber protects the motor, with two mechanical seals on the RX 4 and RX 5. They handle suspended solids up to Ø 10 mm and drain down to 14 mm from the floor (25 mm on the RX 4 and RX 5), for liquid up to +50 °C (+90 °C for up to 3 minutes).

Frequently asked questions
What does GM mean?
GM models have a vertical magnetic float switch, which starts and stops the pump with the water level and suits small sumps.
How long is the cable?
5 metres as standard, type H07 RN-F, with 10 metres available on request. Standard EN 60335-2-41 requires a 10 metre cable for outdoor use, so ask for the 10 m version if the pump will be used outside.
Clear or dirty water?
The standard RX GM is for clear water, with solids up to Ø 10 mm. For dirty water, choose the RX GM VORTEX models (RXm 2/20-GM to 5/40-GM).

What is a submersible pump?
A submersible pump is designed to operate fully submerged in the liquid it is moving. The motor is sealed inside the pump body and cooled by the surrounding water. Submersibles are used for drainage, sewage, septic tanks, deep wells and boreholes, and for raising water from sumps, cellars and floodwater. Many stocked at Anglian Pumping handle solids in suspension.
Can submersible pumps handle solids and sewage?
Yes – some submersibles are designed for clean water only, others handle solids up to 50 mm or full raw sewage. Anglian Pumping stocks ABS, BBC, Flygt and T-T Submersibles ranges that include vortex, single channel and grinder impellers for different solids handling requirements. Always match the pump to the maximum solid size and the type of effluent it will see.
When should I use a submersible pump instead of a surface pump?
Use a submersible when the water level is more than around 8 metres below the pump installation point – surface pumps cannot self-prime beyond that depth. Submersibles are also better when the liquid contains solids, when noise must be minimised, or when the pump needs to operate in confined spaces such as sumps and chambers where a surface pump would not fit.
