The WaterBoost Nook 55 Pop is a water pressure booster built for flats, apartments and anywhere the only space is a cupboard — a 55-litre WRAS-approved break tank with a DAB Esybox Pop variable-speed pump in front, delivering max 65 L/min and 3.2 bar max from a footprint that fits inside a kitchen unit. On a typical 8 L/min flat supply it runs a full-pressure 12 L/min shower for over 13 minutes. It’s the answer to the top-floor shower that dribbles, the combi that won’t fire, and the flat where a direct mains booster can’t legally deliver enough.

The WaterBoost Nook 55 Pop is the smallest complete water boosting system in the WaterBoost range: a 55-litre WRAS-approved break tank and a DAB Esybox Pop variable-speed pump, prebuilt on a single base and ready to connect. It delivers max 65 L/min at 3.2 bar from a 550 × 510 mm footprint — small enough for a kitchen base unit, hallway cupboard or airing cupboard — and it’s the first product in the Nook range, built for flats, apartments and small homes where every other tank system is too big to fit.
Because it draws from a tank rather than the mains, the Nook is legal at flows a direct mains booster can’t reach. The Water Fittings Regulations cap mains pumps at 12 L/min; the Nook’s break tank takes the pump off the mains entirely, so it can deliver a proper shower without pulling water from the neighbours or touching the building’s rising main.

How it works
The mains feeds the tank through the float valve at whatever rate it can manage — 8 L/min, say, on a typical upper-floor flat. The Esybox Pop draws from the tank at whatever rate the flat needs, max 65 L/min at 3.2 bar, and holds the set pressure as taps open and close. A 12 L/min shower drains the tank by only the 4 L/min difference, so on an 8 L/min main a full-pressure shower runs for over 13 minutes before the tank is empty, and it’s refilled again about seven minutes after you turn the water off. On a 9 L/min main that’s 18 minutes; on 10 L/min, 27. In normal use the tank never runs dry.
Set the pressure once on the pump or in the app and forget it. There’s no pressure switch to cycle, no accumulator to pre-charge, no surging when a second tap opens. The combi fires reliably because its inlet never drops below 1 bar; the mixer shower stays at the temperature you set because hot and cold are boosted together.
Installation
The Nook connects to your own supply after the stopcock, so in a flat there’s nothing to ask the freeholder and nothing to touch on the communal main. It sits anywhere with a 550 × 510 mm floor space and a socket: under the kitchen worktop, in a hallway or airing cupboard, beside the combi. IPX5, so a utility room or covered outside space is fine too.
Any plumber can fit it — mains in to the ball valve, boosted supply out from the pump, overflow to a warning pipe, plug in. Typically a couple of hours. The Byelaw 30 kit is already on the tank, so it meets the Water Fittings Regulations as delivered.

What is a mains pressure boosting system?
A mains pressure boosting system increases the pressure and flow of water from the incoming mains supply into a property. It typically combines a pump and a storage or expansion tank, drawing water from the mains and delivering it to taps, showers and appliances at a stronger, more consistent pressure. They are used where the incoming mains is too weak to serve modern outlets reliably.
When do I need a mains booster pump?
You normally need a mains booster if static mains pressure is below 1.5 to 2 bar, if showers run weakly when other taps are open, or if combi boilers struggle to deliver hot water. Anglian Pumping recommends checking static pressure at the stop tap before specifying a system, then choosing a model rated for the number of bathrooms and outlets in the property.
What size mains booster do I need for my home?
Sizing depends on the number of bathrooms, the type of fittings and the static mains pressure. As a guide, a 1 to 2 bathroom property with combi boiler or single shower often needs 1.6 to 3 bar boost. A 2 to 3 bathroom property typically needs 3 to 4.5 bar with an integral break tank. Larger homes need a tank-and-pump system such as the DAB Esybox with Esytank or a Powertank set.
What is a water booster pump?
A water booster pump increases the pressure of an existing water supply to give stronger flow at taps, showers and appliances. It can be a small inline pump fitted to the incoming mains, or a larger pump and tank set that draws from a break tank to feed the whole house. Boosters do not create water – they raise the pressure of the water already coming in.
What is the difference between an inline booster and a tank-and-pump booster?
An inline booster connects straight onto the incoming mains and is limited to 12 litres per minute under UK water regulations – examples include the Salamander HomeBoost and WaterBoost WB-Compact. A tank-and-pump booster, such as the Grundfos Home Booster or DAB Esybox with Esytank, draws from a break tank and can deliver much higher flow rates for larger homes with multiple bathrooms.
What is a variable speed booster pump?
A variable speed booster uses an inverter to adjust pump speed in real time to match demand. It maintains constant pressure as outlets open and close, runs more quietly than a fixed-speed pump and typically saves up to 50 per cent of the energy a fixed-speed equivalent would use. The DAB Esybox, DAB Esybox Mini 3 and Grundfos Scala2 are common variable speed examples.
