Evak Hippo 65-400 3kW DN65 Sewage Pump 400V
- Established 1975
- Trusted by thousands of customers
The Evak Hippo 65-400 (400V) is the second-largest Hippo DN65 — 3 kW / 4 HP three-phase, recessed vortex impeller, 65 mm free passage and a DN65 flanged discharge for guide rail installation. 1,000 L/min and 20 m of head, rated 500 L/min at 13 m — real volume at real lift.
Built for commercial sewage pump stations, apartment blocks, larger developments and treatment works where both flow and rising main length matter. The 65 mm passage takes the solids and rag a 50 mm pump blocks on. Cast iron pump body, stainless steel motor housing, EKK Eagle Burgmann double mechanical seal. Manual operation for panel control. 10 m cable.

More about this product
The Evak Hippo 65-400 (400V) is the pump for stations that need both flow and head. The model code says it: 65 for the 65 mm discharge and free passage, 400 for 4 HP. A 3 kW 2-pole three-phase motor drives a recessed vortex impeller to 1,000 L/min and 20 m of head, with a rated duty of 500 L/min at 13 m. Against the 65-300 that’s the same head at 200 L/min more flow, or the same flow at 2 m more head — the margin that keeps a busy station ahead of inflow at peak.
The 65 mm free passage is the reason to buy it over a 50 mm pump. Raw sewage carries rag, wipes and solids that wrap around a smaller impeller; the DN65 vortex design keeps the impeller recessed out of the flow so solids pass through the volute without touching it. The DN65 flanged discharge (DIN PN10/16) bolts to a QD-65 quick-discharge coupling for guide rail installation, so the pump lifts out for service without anyone entering the chamber.
Cast iron pump body and volute, stainless steel motor housing, and an EKK Eagle Burgmann double mechanical seal (carbon/ceramic upper, silicon carbide lower) in an oil bath with NBR lip seal. Class F insulation, IP68, auto-reset thermal protector, ball bearings. Three-phase motor drawing 6.7 A, no capacitor, no float — supplied manual for control from a panel. 10 m cable. 41.7 kg — a davit or hoist job, not a two-man lift.

What is a submersible pump?
A submersible pump is designed to operate fully submerged in the liquid it is moving. The motor is sealed inside the pump body and cooled by the surrounding water. Submersibles are used for drainage, sewage, septic tanks, deep wells and boreholes, and for raising water from sumps, cellars and floodwater. Many stocked at Anglian Pumping handle solids in suspension.
Can submersible pumps handle solids and sewage?
Yes – some submersibles are designed for clean water only, others handle solids up to 50 mm or full raw sewage. Anglian Pumping stocks ABS, BBC, Flygt and T-T Submersibles ranges that include vortex, single channel and grinder impellers for different solids handling requirements. Always match the pump to the maximum solid size and the type of effluent it will see.
When should I use a submersible pump instead of a surface pump?
Use a submersible when the water level is more than around 8 metres below the pump installation point – surface pumps cannot self-prime beyond that depth. Submersibles are also better when the liquid contains solids, when noise must be minimised, or when the pump needs to operate in confined spaces such as sumps and chambers where a surface pump would not fit.
