The Evak Hippo 65-200 (230V) is the largest single-phase pump in the Hippo DN65 range — 1.5 kW / 2 HP, recessed vortex impeller, 65 mm free passage and a DN65 flanged discharge for guide rail installation. 720 L/min and 13 m of head, rated 360 L/min at 8.4 m.

Built for raw sewage, soiled wastewater and heavy rainwater in pump stations, packaged sewage chambers and commercial drainage. The extra head over the 65-150 covers longer rising mains and deeper chambers without stepping up to three-phase. Cast iron pump body, stainless steel motor housing, EKK Eagle Burgmann double mechanical seal. Internal capacitor and 10 m cable; float switch available.

Full Description

The Evak Hippo 65-200 (230V) is the biggest Hippo DN65 you can run on single phase. The model code says it: 65 for the 65 mm discharge and free passage, 200 for 2 HP. A 1.5 kW 2-pole motor drives a recessed vortex impeller to 720 L/min and 13 m of head, with a rated duty of 360 L/min at 8.4 m. Against the 65-150 that’s 20% more flow and 2 m more head — the difference between a rising main that just works and one that’s marginal.

The 65 mm free passage is the reason to buy it over a 50 mm pump. Raw sewage carries rag, wipes and solids that wrap around a smaller impeller; the DN65 vortex design keeps the impeller recessed out of the flow so solids pass through the volute without touching it. The DN65 flanged discharge (DIN PN10/16) bolts to a QD-65 quick-discharge coupling for guide rail installation, so the pump lifts out for service without anyone entering the chamber.

Cast iron pump body and volute, stainless steel motor housing, and an EKK Eagle Burgmann double mechanical seal (carbon/ceramic upper, silicon carbide lower) in an oil bath with NBR lip seal. Class F insulation, IP68, auto-reset thermal protector, ball bearings. Internal capacitor, 10 m cable. Supplied manual; a float switch version is available for automatic single-pump duty.

65 mm vortex impeller

Recessed vortex design passes 65 mm solids and rag through the volute without contact — the difference between a sewage pump that blocks and one that doesn’t.

DN65 flanged discharge

DIN PN10/16 flange for a QD-65 quick-discharge coupling on a guide rail, or direct to a flanged riser. Lift out for service without entering the chamber.

Cast iron pump body

FC200 cast iron volute and casing for long life in raw sewage.

Stainless motor housing

Stainless steel motor housing over a Class F dry-type motor with auto-reset thermal protector and ball bearings. IP68.

EKK Eagle Burgmann double seal

Carbon/ceramic upper and silicon carbide lower mechanical seals in an oil bath with NBR lip seal — a named, serviceable seal set, not a generic one.

Single-phase with internal capacitor

Start capacitor built into the motor — no external box. Runs from a panel or, with the float switch option, on its own.

What is a submersible pump?

A submersible pump is designed to operate fully submerged in the liquid it is moving. The motor is sealed inside the pump body and cooled by the surrounding water. Submersibles are used for drainage, sewage, septic tanks, deep wells and boreholes, and for raising water from sumps, cellars and floodwater. Many stocked at Anglian Pumping handle solids in suspension.

Can submersible pumps handle solids and sewage?

Yes – some submersibles are designed for clean water only, others handle solids up to 50 mm or full raw sewage. Anglian Pumping stocks ABS, BBC, Flygt and T-T Submersibles ranges that include vortex, single channel and grinder impellers for different solids handling requirements. Always match the pump to the maximum solid size and the type of effluent it will see.

When should I use a submersible pump instead of a surface pump?

Use a submersible when the water level is more than around 8 metres below the pump installation point – surface pumps cannot self-prime beyond that depth. Submersibles are also better when the liquid contains solids, when noise must be minimised, or when the pump needs to operate in confined spaces such as sumps and chambers where a surface pump would not fit.
