The Evak Hippo 50-150 (230V) is the first genuinely industrial pump in the Hippo range, in 230V single-phase for standard mains supply. 1.1 kW / 1.5 HP single-phase motor, 2″ discharge, full cast iron construction with vortex impeller and 50 mm free passage.
Genuine step up from the 1 HP 50-100 — 580 L/min max flow at 12.5 m max head. Motor cover switches from glass-reinforced nylon to full cast iron; insulation class steps up from B to Class F for continuous industrial duty. Weight jumps from 15.4 kg to 24.2 kg — genuinely a different pump under the hood.

The Evak Hippo 50-150 (230V) is the first genuinely industrial pump in the Hippo range — the point where the range moves from prosumer/light-commercial construction to full cast iron industrial specification. A 1.1 kW / 1.5 HP 2-pole single-phase motor drives a vortex impeller through a heat-treated stainless steel shaft, supported by NTN long-life ball bearings.
Compared with the 1 HP 50-100, this variant delivers 580 L/min at up to 12.5 m of head — 16% more flow and 11% more lift, but the meaningful upgrade is the construction. The motor cover switches from PA66+30GF glass-reinforced nylon to full EN-GJL-200 cast iron, insulation class steps up from Class B to Class F (better thermal margin for continuous-duty operation), and the pump weight almost doubles — from 15.4 kg to 24.2 kg. This is genuinely a different pump under the hood.
The 50 mm full free passage vortex impeller continues across the range, but now supported by industrial-grade cast iron construction throughout. Suits multi-property sewage stations, industrial sump duty, and commercial installations where the 50-100’s PA66 motor cover isn’t robust enough for the environment. Twin EKK Eagle Burgmann mechanical seals (upper Ca/Ce, lower SiC/SiC) run in an oil chamber with an NBR lip seal. Klixon auto-cut thermal protection safeguards the motor. Supplied as automatic with float switch, or manual for use with external level controllers.

Standard delivery is free on most orders. Some items may incur a delivery charge depending on weight, size or value. Any applicable charge will be displayed at checkout.
Deliveries will typically be made between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
Next day delivery:
Next working day delivery is available for a £16.50 + VAT delivery charge.
Orders must be placed before 12 noon to qualify for next working day delivery. Orders placed after 12 noon on Thursday but before noon on Friday will be delivered the following Monday. Orders placed after 12 noon on Friday will be delivered on Tuesday.

What is a submersible pump?
A submersible pump is designed to operate fully submerged in the liquid it is moving. The motor is sealed inside the pump body and cooled by the surrounding water. Submersibles are used for drainage, sewage, septic tanks, deep wells and boreholes, and for raising water from sumps, cellars and floodwater. Many stocked at Anglian Pumping handle solids in suspension.
Can submersible pumps handle solids and sewage?
Yes – some submersibles are designed for clean water only, others handle solids up to 50 mm or full raw sewage. Always match the pump to the maximum solid size and the type of effluent it will see.
When should I use a submersible pump instead of a surface pump?
Use a submersible when the water level is more than around 8 metres below the pump installation point – surface pumps cannot self-prime beyond that depth. Submersibles are also better when the liquid contains solids, when noise must be minimised, or when the pump needs to operate in confined spaces such as sumps and chambers where a surface pump would not fit.
