Evak Hippo 50-100 – 110V
- Established 1975
- Trusted by thousands of customers
The Evak Hippo 50-100 (110V) is the top-of-range Hippo available in the UK construction-market 110V CTE variant for use with heavy-duty building-site transformers. 0.75 kW / 1 HP single-phase motor, 2″ discharge, cast iron pump body with vortex impeller and 50 mm free passage.
The largest 110V Hippo — 500 L/min max flow at 11.3 m max head. Suits heavy site duty, deep excavation dewatering, and high-flow construction sewage transfer where the 0.75 HP variant runs out of capacity. Last model in the range with 110V availability — the Hippo 50-150 and 50-200 require 230V or 400V supply.

More about this product
The Evak Hippo 50-100 (110V) is the largest Hippo available in the UK construction-market 110V CTE variant, and the top-of-range choice where building-site transformer supply is mandated. A 0.75 kW / 1 HP 2-pole single-phase motor drives a vortex impeller through a heat-treated stainless steel shaft, supported by NTN long-life ball bearings.
Compared with the 0.75 HP 50-75, this variant delivers 500 L/min at up to 11.3 m of head — 28% more flow and 13% more lift at the same 2″ discharge and 50 mm free passage. Above this power level, Evak doesn’t offer a 110V variant because the current draw exceeds practical site-transformer capacity: the 1.5 HP Hippo 50-150 would need well over 15 A at 110V, more than most site setups can reliably deliver.
The 50 mm full free passage vortex impeller is designed to handle raw sewage and heavy solids without clogging. The motor housing is AISI 304 stainless steel with a PA66+30GF glass-reinforced nylon motor cover — the cover material used across the 0.5–1 HP Hippo range; at 1.5 HP and above, the motor cover switches to full cast iron. Twin EKK Eagle Burgmann mechanical seals (upper Ca/Ce, lower SiC/SiC) run in an oil chamber with an NBR lip seal. Klixon auto-cut thermal protection safeguards the motor. Supplied as automatic with float switch, or manual for use with external level controllers.

What is a submersible pump?
A submersible pump is designed to operate fully submerged in the liquid it is moving. The motor is sealed inside the pump body and cooled by the surrounding water. Submersibles are used for drainage, sewage, septic tanks, deep wells and boreholes, and for raising water from sumps, cellars and floodwater. Many stocked at Anglian Pumping handle solids in suspension.
Can submersible pumps handle solids and sewage?
Yes – some submersibles are designed for clean water only, others handle solids up to 50 mm or full raw sewage. Anglian Pumping stocks ABS, BBC, Flygt and T-T Submersibles ranges that include vortex, single channel and grinder impellers for different solids handling requirements. Always match the pump to the maximum solid size and the type of effluent it will see.
When should I use a submersible pump instead of a surface pump?
Use a submersible when the water level is more than around 8 metres below the pump installation point – surface pumps cannot self-prime beyond that depth. Submersibles are also better when the liquid contains solids, when noise must be minimised, or when the pump needs to operate in confined spaces such as sumps and chambers where a surface pump would not fit.
