The float adds a positive mechanical level cut-off on top of the standard electronic dry-run protection — when the float drops, the pump will not run. The right choice for shallow rainwater tanks or any source that may run dry, with the higher pressure of the 900 model.
- Recommended max tap height 20 m
- Cable-tied float with 30 mm clearance from wall
- 1″ threaded discharge with integrated non-return valve
- 15 m H07RNF cable with UK plug

More about this product
The DAB Divertron 900A is a submersible multi-impeller booster pump with fully integrated electronics, designed for clean water pressurisation, garden irrigation and rainwater reuse. The higher-pressure model in the Divertron range, configured here with an integrated cable-tied float switch.
The “A” suffix denotes the float, which gives a positive mechanical level cut-off in addition to the built-in electronic dry-run protection: when the float drops, the pump will not run under any condition. The right choice for shallow tanks, summer-emptying rainwater stores, or any source where you want a hard guarantee against running dry. DAB part 60203220.
At a glance
Built for
Two-storey domestic feeds from rainwater tanks that can run dry between refills. Garden irrigation and pressure washers fed from cisterns or wells where a positive level cut-off is wanted. Pressurised supply for outbuildings, holiday homes, or properties with intermittent water demand where you don’t want to worry about the pump running dry while you’re away.
Pick the 900A over the standard 900 specifically for the float — performance, electronics and build are otherwise identical. If your water level is always reliable, save the cost and choose the standard 900.
How the float and electronics work together
On the float-switch versions, the float takes precedence: float up (water present) → the pump operates normally; float down (water level low) → the pump does not activate under any condition. This sits over the top of the standard electronic logic, providing a hard mechanical guarantee against running dry.
When the float is up, the pump behaves like the standard 900: the integrated pressure switch and flow sensor start the pump when system pressure drops below the 2.4 bar cut-in, and stop it 10 seconds after flow ceases. No external pressure switch, no separate controller.
The minimum recommended distance between the end of the float and the tank wall is 30 mm — the float needs room to swing freely.
Build
Pump body and impellers in technopolymer for corrosion and oxidation resistance. Stainless steel motor shaft (AISI 416 + AISI 304) and motor cap (AISI 304). EPDM seals throughout. Carbon-impregnated resin / ceramic / NBR mechanical seal. Integrated non-return valve in the discharge.
IP68 rated motor with class F insulation, asynchronous design with integrated thermal overload protection. Supplied with 15 m H07RNF power cable with UK plug, plus the integrated float switch.
Installation notes
Pump must remain submerged with at least 50 mm of water above it for motor cooling. In a well, suspend at least 1 metre above the bottom to avoid drawing in sand and sediment. In a tank, allow at least 30 mm clearance for the float to swing freely; the chamber must be at least 160 mm in diameter to clear the pump body.
The 1″ threaded discharge is supplied with a four-section fitting-reducer. Use 1″ pipework as a minimum to preserve performance. Do not fit a separate non-return valve within 1 m of the pump discharge — the integrated valve handles this. A small 0.5–2 litre auxiliary expansion tank on the delivery side is recommended to absorb short draw-offs.
Recommended maximum vertical lift to the highest tap is 20 m. Maximum 20 starts per hour. Install in a location not exposed to freezing, or remove and drain for winter storage if the chamber may freeze.

Frequently asked questions
When do I need the float switch version?
Choose the 900A over the standard 900 when your water source can run dry — typically a rainwater tank in summer, or a shallow well with a variable level. The float gives you a hard mechanical guarantee that the pump won’t run without water, on top of the standard electronic dry-run protection. If your supply is always reliable, the standard 900 saves the cost.
How much room does the float need?
DAB recommend at least 30 mm clearance between the end of the float and the nearest wall. The float needs to swing freely; if it can snag on a fitting or the tank side, it won’t reset properly when water returns.
Should I get the 900A or the 650A?
Both have the same 6 m³/h flow but differ in pressure. The 900A delivers 45 m of head with a recommended max tap height of 20 m. The 650A delivers 30 m of head with a recommended max tap height of 13 m. Pick the 900A for two-storey domestic feeds, longer pipe runs, or firmer pressure at multiple outlets; choose the 650A for garden-led, single-storey applications.
Is the Divertron 900A WRAS approved for drinking water?
No. It is built from materials suitable for clean water but does not carry WRAS approval in the UK. For mains-connected potable supply, specify a WRAS-listed pump. The Divertron is well-suited to rainwater reuse, garden duties and private (non-mains) supplies.
Can I retrofit a float switch to a standard 900?
Not easily — the float on the 900A is wired into the pump’s control circuit, not a separate plug-in unit. If you’ve already bought a standard 900 and now want a positive level cut-off, the practical answer is to fit an external float switch in the supply line. Get in touch and we can advise on a suitable add-on float for your installation.
Will it pump from a dirty rainwater tank?
The 900A has the standard open inlet filter that blocks particles over 3 mm but isn’t suitable for water with sand, silt or significant sediment. For tanks with a sediment layer at the base, the Divertron 900 X variant uses a closed filter base designed to be paired with the KIT X floating suction kit. The X version is not currently available with an integrated float.
What’s the warranty?
2-year manufacturer’s warranty when installed and operated within the specified limits.
