More about this product
The DAB Divertron 650 is a submersible multi-impeller booster pump with fully integrated electronics, designed for clean water pressurisation, garden irrigation and rainwater reuse. It drops into a well, tank, cistern or borehole chamber and provides automatic on-demand pressure to taps, sprinklers and non-potable household feeds.
This is the standard-bodied, non-float variant (DAB part 60209375). It uses the pump’s built-in electronic dry-run protection rather than a physical float switch — the right choice where the water level is reliable and a float isn’t needed or wanted.
At a glance
Built for
Garden irrigation from rainwater tanks, sprinkler and drip systems for medium-sized gardens, allotments and vegetable plots. Outside taps and pressure washers fed from a cistern or well. Single-storey rainwater reuse for non-potable household duties (WC, washing machine).
The 650 is the lower-pressure, lower-power model in the Divertron range. Specify it where the rise from pump to highest tap is up to about 13 m and full domestic boosting isn’t required — it’s the cost-effective choice for garden-led applications.
How the automatic operation works
The Divertron has an integrated pressure switch and flow sensor. Open a tap, system pressure drops below the 1.8 bar cut-in, the pump starts. Close the tap, flow stops, the pump shuts off after a 10-second delay. No external pressure switch, no separate controller, no manual priming once installed.
Dry-run protection is built in: if no flow or pressure is detected for 20 seconds the pump goes into DRYRUN alarm and shuts down, then attempts a controlled restart sequence (after 1 hour, then 5 hours, then every 24 hours) until water is detected again. An anti-flood routine cuts the motor every 60 minutes during continuous running to verify the non-return valve is sealing correctly.
All electronics sit inside the pump body. Quick-access cover for the starting capacitor compartment if servicing is ever required.
Build
Pump body and impellers in technopolymer for corrosion and oxidation resistance. Stainless steel motor shaft (AISI 416 + AISI 304) and motor cap (AISI 304). EPDM seals throughout. Carbon-impregnated resin / ceramic / NBR mechanical seal. Integrated non-return valve in the discharge.
IP68 rated motor with class F insulation, asynchronous design with integrated thermal overload protection. Supplied with 15 m H07RNF power cable and Schuko plug.
Installation notes
Pump must remain submerged with at least 50 mm of water above it for motor cooling. In a well, suspend at least 1 metre above the bottom to avoid drawing in sand and sediment — use rigid metal pipe to support and bracket at the wellhead, not the cable or the handle. In a tank, the chamber must be at least 160 mm in diameter to clear the pump body.
The 1″ threaded discharge is supplied with a four-section fitting-reducer. Use 1″ pipework as a minimum to preserve performance. Do not fit a separate non-return valve within 1 m of the pump discharge — the integrated valve handles this. A small 0.5–2 litre auxiliary expansion tank on the delivery side is recommended to absorb short draw-offs (e.g. a WC fill cycle) and reduce motor cycling.
Recommended maximum vertical lift to the highest tap is 13 m. Maximum 20 starts per hour. Install in a location not exposed to freezing, or remove and drain the pump for winter storage if the chamber may freeze.

Frequently asked questions
Should I get the 650 or the 900?
Choose the 650 if your application is single-storey, garden-led, with the highest tap less than about 13 m above the pump. Step up to the 900 for two-storey domestic feeds, longer pipe runs, or where you want firmer pressure at multiple outlets simultaneously. The 900 has the same 6 m³/h flow but reaches 45 m of head versus 30 m for the 650.
Do I need the float switch version (650A) instead?
Only if your water source can run dry and you want a physical level cut-off as a second line of defence. The standard 650 has built-in electronic dry-run protection that handles most installations safely. Choose the 650A for shallow rainwater tanks that may empty in summer, or any application where a cable-tied float switch can swing freely without snagging.
Is this a borehole pump?
It can sit in a borehole chamber or shallow well, but its 160 mm diameter means it will not fit down a standard 4″ or 6″ borehole casing — those need a dedicated borehole pump. The Divertron is best suited to wells, sumps, large rainwater tanks and cisterns where there’s room for a 160 mm pump body.
Is the Divertron 650 WRAS approved for drinking water?
No. It is built from materials suitable for clean water but does not carry WRAS approval in the UK. For mains-connected potable supply, specify a WRAS-listed pump. The Divertron is well-suited to rainwater reuse, garden duties and private (non-mains) supplies.
Do I need an accumulator tank with this pump?
Not strictly — the integrated electronics handle start/stop without one. But on installations with frequent short draw-offs (a WC cistern is the classic case), a small 0.5–2 litre auxiliary expansion tank on the delivery side will reduce cycling and extend the life of the pump. Maximum 20 starts per hour is the limit you’re managing.
Will it pump from a dirty rainwater tank?
The standard 650 has an open inlet filter that blocks particles over 3 mm but isn’t suitable for water with sand, silt or significant sediment. For tanks with a sediment layer at the base, the Divertron 650 X variant uses a closed filter base designed to be paired with the KIT X floating suction kit, which draws cleaner water from above the sediment line.
What’s the warranty?
2-year manufacturer’s warranty when installed and operated within the specified limits.
