RSD-400 230v Automatic Puddle Pump with Crab Sensor 012-400A

The RSD-400 Automatic Puddle Pump with Crab Sensor manufactured by JS, also known as a Puddle Sucker is a fully automatic low level drainage pump able to pump clear water down to as little as 1mm.

With the addition of the crab sensor, whilst resting on a flat surface, it remains weighted to the bottom, allowing the Crab sensor to detect the presence of water on the floor.  A magnetic key is supplied which allows the user to adjust the delay time of the start and stop sequence according to your own needs at site level.

The factory settings for the Crab sensor are that the pump turns on 5 seconds after the sensor detects water and turns off 30 seconds after the sensor no longer detects water.

Cable length of the Crab sensor is 30cm.

Requires a minimum of 5mm of water to operate and is required to be primed on initial use.

This makes this RSD-400 ideal for applications such as basement or cellar drainage, flat roofs or car parks or for instance where nuisance standing water is present that requires low level drainage.

As standard the RSD-400 pump comes equipped with a non-return valve on the suction side, which prevents the return of any water. The bottom plate is manufactured from cushioned rubber which helps prevent damage to the pump bottom or surface which it is placed.

You can be assured of quality – stainless steel outer case, shaft and motor case. Cast iron motor lid, pump casing and volute with double mechanical seals, carbon ceramic and silicon carbide in a lubricated oil chamber.

Supplied with 10 metres of power cable.

What is a submersible pump?

A submersible pump is designed to operate fully submerged in the liquid it is moving. The motor is sealed inside the pump body and cooled by the surrounding water. Submersibles are used for drainage, sewage, septic tanks, deep wells and boreholes, and for raising water from sumps, cellars and floodwater. Many stocked at Anglian Pumping handle solids in suspension.

Can submersible pumps handle solids and sewage?

Yes – some submersibles are designed for clean water only, others handle solids up to 50 mm or full raw sewage. Anglian Pumping stocks ABS, BBC, Flygt and T-T Submersibles ranges that include vortex, single channel and grinder impellers for different solids handling requirements. Always match the pump to the maximum solid size and the type of effluent it will see.

When should I use a submersible pump instead of a surface pump?

Use a submersible when the water level is more than around 8 metres below the pump installation point – surface pumps cannot self-prime beyond that depth. Submersibles are also better when the liquid contains solids, when noise must be minimised, or when the pump needs to operate in confined spaces such as sumps and chambers where a surface pump would not fit.
