Mains pressure boosting has traditionally meant choosing between two compromises — an open break tank with a pump, or a fixed-speed pressure booster running flat out regardless of what your mains can already deliver.

The new WaterBoost ATX range is our answer to both. A fully sealed accumulator vessel paired with a variable-speed inverter pump in a single compact unit — designed to deliver powerful, hygienic, low-energy mains boost across a domestic property of any size, with zero ongoing maintenance.

Our Managing Director, Glen Denny, explains what makes the ATX different and how to choose the right model for the job.

01

What is the ATX and how does it work?

The ATX connects directly to the incoming cold water mains. Inside the unit is a sealed, pressurised accumulator vessel and a DAB variable-speed pump. When a tap or shower opens, the system delivers boosted water immediately — combining stored capacity from the vessel with continuous boosted flow from the mains.

Once the stored capacity is used, the system continues to supply boosted water directly from the mains at 12 l/min at 3 bar — there is no sudden drop back to unboosted pressure. When demand stops, the vessel automatically recharges.

02

What size ATX do you need?

ATX sizing is based on stored useable volume and sustained boosted flow. Larger models give longer boosted run times before the system reverts to continuous mains-fed flow. As a guide, allow approximately 12 l/min per shower in simultaneous use.

Flat or 1 bathroom

Best for smaller properties where space is tight but mains pressure needs improving.

ATX-60 / 80 / 100

2–3 bathrooms

Best for most family homes wanting stronger showers and better flow throughout the house.

ATX-200 / 250

3–5 bathrooms

Best for larger properties with higher simultaneous demand and longer boosted run times.

ATX-300 / 450

COMPACT For flats and single-bathroom homes

STANDARD Whole-house boost up to large family homes

If your incoming mains static pressure is below 1 bar, get in touch — we will need to confirm flow availability before specifying a model.

03

Why a sealed system matters — water hygiene

The ATX vessel is fully sealed and pressurised. There is no open water surface, no air gap, and no point at which atmospheric air contacts the stored water. The complete system operates as a closed pressurised circuit from mains inlet to outlet, using WRAS-approved pump body materials throughout.

Open break tank
  • Open water surface — air, dust and debris enter
  • Periodic cleaning and inspection required
  • Overflow pipe required — ongoing risk point
  • Static water — Legionella management may apply
WaterBoost ATX
  • Fully sealed vessel — zero air contact
  • No open surface, no debris ingress
  • No overflow pipe required
  • WRAS approved components
04

Why variable speed matters — energy efficiency

This is the single biggest difference between the ATX and a conventional fixed-speed booster. A fixed-speed pump runs at full output every time it cycles, regardless of what the mains is already delivering. The ATX measures the incoming pressure and produces only the shortfall.

If your mains delivers 1 bar and the target is 3 bar, the pump produces 2 bar — nothing more. If the mains delivers 2 bar, the pump produces 1 bar. You never pay to generate pressure you already have.

ATX energy efficiency
In practice

Running costs reflect actual demand, not a fixed worst-case assumption. Lower energy use, fewer running hours, longer pump life.

05

Maintenance — what’s involved?

Nothing.
No filters. No air charges. No service intervals. No engineer visits.

The ATX is a genuinely maintenance-free system. The sealed vessel carries a 5-year warranty and the pump operates on demand only — meaning fewer running hours and longer life than a fixed-speed equivalent.

If a pump ever does need replacing in the future, it lifts out of its dock in around 30 seconds via the integral bypass — no draining, no system downtime.

06

Noise, control and installation

The variable-speed pump operates at 40 dB(A) — quiet enough for installation in a utility room, garage, or under-stairs cupboard without disturbance. The system is monitored and controlled via the integrated HMI display or DAB DConnect app, allowing remote pressure adjustment and fault notification.

Installation requires only two water connections — mains in, boosted out — and a standard 13 amp socket. No overflow pipe required.
