To many people, selling water to people in plastic bottles for up to a 5,000% markup seems insane. Indeed, large companies spend millions of dollars dressing up water as ‘healthy’ or ‘organic’, when the reality is that you can get great-tasting water that tastes just like you sipped it out of a chilled spring for next to nothing. If you’ve ever been on a hike and had the pleasure of drinking cool water as it flows down a stream, you will appreciate the sheer freshness that such water provides.

A home filtration system can give you pure, fresh water that’s chilled to the touch.

It’s a good way of quenching your thirst and ensuring your tap water is fresh, soft and free from contaminants with a relatively small upfront investment.

In 2009, the average price of a bottle of water was £3.40 per litre. Since then, prices have only continued to grow. However, the average cost in the UK for tap water is only £1 per 1,000 litres, which means that, on average, the price of water is 34 times more expensive per litre in bottled form than it is out of the tap. Yes, bottled water is convenient; there can be no denying this. On the other hand, though, it is so unnecessary.

It’s not just the cost factor, either – bottled water is bad for the environment, as the bottles of water are transported far and wide, and then you have to contend with the damage that plastics themselves have done to the environment. Did you know that most bottled water is packaged in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic, which is a substance that is derived from crude oil?

Unbelievably, it can take 3 litres of water to produce a single litre of bottled water.

Just imagine all the water that goes to waste because of bottled water! Unrecycled water bottles also end up in landfill and typically take a millennium to break down. In addition, they pose a huge hazard to sea creatures.

If you want to do your part to help preserve the environment (and save money in the process), installing a water filtration system in your home is a great way of giving you that chilled, distilled taste without feeling guilty about it.

We have a great selection of products in this area inlcuding the Aquada UV Proxima a filter treating water supplies with bacteria problems.

A water filtration system is also recommended if you have any health concerns and rely on exceedingly pure water free from chemicals. To benefit from purified water in your home, contact us at Anglian Pumping today on 01473719951.
