The Ebara Matrix 18-2T/1.5 is a compact horizontal multistage centrifugal pump with two stages, built in AISI 304 stainless steel. The pump is close-coupled to a 1.5 kW three-phase IE3 motor (230/400 V), and the standard carbon / ceramic / EPDM seal is WRAS approved for drinking water.

It covers 7.8 to 27 m³/h on Ebara’s selection chart, with around 24.2 m of head at shut-off. It suits pressure boosting, water supply and transfer, irrigation, washdown and light industrial duties, and connects through a G2 suction and a G1½ discharge.

Ebara Matrix 18-2T/1.5 Overview

The Matrix 18-2T/1.5 is the two-stage model in Ebara’s Matrix 18 range of horizontal multistage pumps, with a 230/400 V three-phase motor. The casing, impellers, intermediate stages, casing cover and wetted shaft are all AISI 304 stainless steel, so it handles clean water and moderately aggressive water-based solutions.

It delivers from 7.8 m³/h up to 27 m³/h, with around 24.2 m of head at shut-off and 5.2 m at 27 m³/h. It is quiet and compact, which suits domestic and commercial pressure boosting, water supply and transfer, irrigation, rainwater reuse, washdown and light industrial use. As a bare pump it needs a pressure switch, flow controller or inverter to run it as a booster.

Installation Notes

Supply: 230/400 V three phase, 3.8 A full load at 400 V (38.4 A locked rotor). Overload protection is not built in, so supply the motor through a starter with a correctly set overload or a suitable inverter. Electrical installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Priming and dry running: Before first start, remove the priming plug on the pump casing near the discharge, fill the pump with water until it overflows, refit the plug and run at full flow for a few minutes. The pump must never run dry, and Ebara advises against running below 10% of best-efficiency flow, so avoid running for long against a closed valve.

Pressure: Shut-off is around 2.4 bar and the maximum working pressure is 10 bar. Inlet pressure plus pump pressure must not exceed 10 bar, so keep inlet pressure below about 7.6 bar.

Location: Install indoors or under cover with the shaft horizontal, at no more than 40 °C ambient, and protect it from frost. Support the pipework so no load is carried by the pump connections.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the code Matrix 18-2T/1.5 mean?

Matrix 18 = the Matrix range sized for around 18 m³/h at best efficiency; 2 = number of impellers; T = threaded pipe connections; 1.5 = motor size in kW. No M means a three-phase motor.

Is it approved for drinking water?

Yes. The standard version with the carbon / ceramic / EPDM seal is WRAS and DM174/2004 (ICIM) approved for drinking water, for liquids up to 85 °C.

Will it switch itself on and off?

No. This is a bare pump, so it needs a pressure switch, flow controller or inverter to start and stop it on demand. For a ready-made variable speed booster with the same pump, see the 1GPE MATRIX 18-2T/1.5 ESPT, which has an E-SPD+ inverter mounted on the motor.

Is there a single-phase version?

Yes. The Ebara Matrix 18-2T/1.5M (part 2471820000E) has the same pump end with a 1.5 kW single-phase motor for a 230 V supply.

What if I need more head?

For more head, the three-stage Matrix 18-3T/2.2 gives around 36.3 m at shut-off on a 2.2 kW motor. All Matrix 18 models cover up to 27 m³/h.

Can it pump hot water?

The standard seal is rated for −15 to +85 °C. Ebara makes -TE and special-seal versions for up to 110 °C, but these are different part numbers, so ask us before ordering for hot-water duties.

Is there an insulation jacket?

Yes. Ebara supplies a body insulation casing for this pump, part 341445027, for chilled or heated water duties. Ask us to add it to your order.

Next day delivery:
Next working day delivery is available for a £16.50 + VAT delivery charge.
