Saphir Pro UV
Saphir 7 Pro 75w UV 118 litres/minute
- Established 1975
- Trusted by thousands of customers
The Daro Saphir 7 Pro is a UK-made, WRAS-approved UV water steriliser for private supplies — boreholes, wells, springs and rainwater. It treats up to 118 l/min at 30 mJ/cm² (88 l/min at 40 mJ/cm²), rated at end of lamp life, through an electropolished 316 stainless steel chamber with a single 75 W GER36XOSE lamp. Sized for a guest house, farm or small business.
Pro version: 254 nm UV sensor with digital UV intensity readout, low-UV warning, lamp-life display, volt-free contacts and 4–20 mA output.
More about this product
Daro Saphir 7 Pro UV Steriliser
The Saphir 7 Pro uses ultraviolet light at 253.7 nm to inactivate more than 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, moulds, algae and yeasts as water passes through the chamber. There are no chemicals to buy, store or dose, and nothing is added to the water — taste and smell are unchanged. It is the natural choice for private water supplies where the risk is microbiological: boreholes, wells, springs, and rainwater or greywater reuse.
Within the Saphir range, the Pro version adds a selective 254 nm UV sensor with a digital UV intensity display, low-UV warning, digital lamp-life readout, volt-free contacts and a 4–20 mA output — it measures the dose actually reaching the water rather than just whether the lamp is lit. Every Saphir is designed, built and assembled by Daro UV Systems in Sudbury, Suffolk, and is WRAS approved (2204342) with Kiwa Regulation 4 approval (2205732).

Saphir Pro range — choose your size
All flows at 98% UV transmittance, rated at end of lamp life. 30 mJ/cm² is the usual domestic sizing dose; size at 40 mJ/cm² where a supply is higher risk or a specification calls for it.

Standard, Plus or Pro?
The chamber, lamp and flow rate are the same across all three versions of a given size — the difference is the control box and how much it tells you.

Monitoring and alarms
- Selective 254 nm UV sensor reads the UV intensity actually reaching the water, shown as a % on the digital display
- Adjustable set points: UV Warning (amber) and UV Low (alarm, volt-free contact opens) — e.g. Warning 70%, Low 60%
- Lamp-life countdown with alarm at 0 hours; buzzer can be silenced for 24 hours
- Chamber temperature monitoring with alarm and adjustable thermal drain point (default 25 °C)
- 7-way connector: fail-safe Lamp OK and UV OK volt-free contacts plus passive 4–20 mA UV intensity output (4 mA = 0%, 20 mA = 100%)
Spares and servicing
| Part | Code | When |
|---|---|---|
| UV lamp | GER36XOSE | Every 8,760 hours / 12 months |
| Quartz sleeve | QTZ36SE | Clean when the lamp is changed; replace if scratched or cloudy |
| Seal kit | USK15/25/36SE | Every lamp change |
Clean the outside of the quartz with a domestic scourer and 10% citric acid solution — never an industrial scourer. Inspect the quartz after the first few months to set a cleaning interval for your water. Use genuine Daro spares: the warranty is void otherwise.
Installation
- Fit after any softener, iron/manganese removal or other treatment, and after a 5–10 micron sediment filter — UV must be the last stage before the taps
- Mount horizontally or vertically on the integral bracket; leave room at the lamp end to withdraw the lamp and quartz
- Fit isolating valves either side and a bypass if the supply must stay on during servicing (bypassed water is untreated)
- Plug into a switched, earthed 13 A socket and leave the unit powered at all times; connect the earth strap between control box and chamber
- After fitting, or any time the system has been opened, flush and disinfect the pipework downstream of the unit
