The Triton LR02-L20M-IS is the ATEX-certified, intrinsically safe version of Triton’s best-selling LR02 sewage float switch, for zones 1 and 2 with flammable gases and vapours. It keeps the tough Hypalon rubber float and built-in stabilising weight, on 20 m of 3-core CPE cable.

Triton LR02-IS ATEX float switch, 20 m

The Triton LR02-IS (LR02-L20M-IS) is the intrinsically safe, ATEX-certified version of Triton’s best-selling LR02 sewage float switch. It keeps the same tough Hypalon rubber float and built-in stabilising weight, and is certified for zones 1 and 2 with flammable gases and vapours (groups IIA, IIB and IIC, temperature classes T1 to T6). That makes it the choice for wet wells and pumping stations where methane can build up.

Because it is intrinsically safe, it works on a low-energy circuit (Ui 30 V, Ii 100 mA) and must be connected through a certified IS barrier or IS relay in the safe area, which then switches the pump or alarm.

ATEX certificate Sira 04ATEX2187, marked II 2G EEx ia IIC T6, for ambient temperatures from −20°C to +70°C.

Wiring

Brown is the common lead. Insulate whichever lead you don’t use. Connect only to a certified intrinsically safe input; the IS barrier or relay then switches the pump starter or alarm.

Installation tips

Installation and repair must follow the applicable hazardous-area code of practice and be carried out by suitably trained personnel.
Keep the IS barrier or relay in the safe area and observe its entity parameters against the switch and cable.
Allow at least 330 mm of free movement so the float can tilt fully. Switching points are approximate.
In an enclosed vessel, support the cable; in an open or turbulent tank, clip it to the wall so the float cannot drift.

FAQs

Can the LR02-IS switch a pump directly?

No. It is certified only on a low-energy intrinsically safe circuit. Wire it to a certified IS barrier or IS relay, which then switches the pump.

Which hazardous areas is it certified for?

Zones 1 and 2 with flammable gases and vapours, gas groups IIA, IIB and IIC, temperature classes T1 to T6.

Does it need a counterweight?

No. Like the standard LR02, the stabilising weight is built into the cable.

What is the longest cable available?

20 m. The ATEX certification does not allow longer cable on this model.

Can I use it in diesel or oil?

No. The rubber float is rated poor against diesel and petrol.

Standard delivery:
Standard delivery is free on most orders. Some items may incur a delivery charge depending on weight, size or value. Any applicable charge will be displayed at checkout.

Deliveries will typically be made between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Next day delivery:
Next working day delivery is available for a £16.50 + VAT delivery charge.

Orders must be placed before 12 noon to qualify for next working day delivery. Orders placed after 12 noon on Thursday but before noon on Friday will be delivered the following Monday. Orders placed after 12 noon on Friday will be delivered on Tuesday.
