Product overview

The Pedrollo HF 5BM is a 1.1 kW (1.5 HP) centrifugal pump for clean water on a 400 V three-phase supply, designed for medium flows at moderate head. It covers 100 to 600 l/min with a working head of 18.5 m down to 6 m.

HF pumps move large volumes of water with a modest lift, which makes them the choice for flood irrigation, filling and emptying tanks and reservoirs, circulating water in cooling and treatment plant, and draining land. Large port sizes keep friction losses low. Install indoors or under cover.

Key features

Medium flow

Wide impeller passages for large volumes at low head.

Cast iron body

Heavy-duty cast iron pump body.

Large ports

Big suction and delivery connections to keep losses low on long runs.

Single or three-phase

HFm single-phase 230 V or HF three-phase 400 V.

Continuous duty

Rated S1 for running for long periods.

Wide range

Part of the HF Medium Flow range. For flows above 700 l/min, see the HF High Flow range (HF 4 to HF 30).

Typical applications

Irrigation

Flood and channel irrigation of fields and orchards.

Tank filling and emptying

Reservoirs, storage tanks and lagoons.

Circulation

Cooling water, treatment plant and aquaculture.

Drainage

Moving clean water off land and out of holding areas.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the head so low for the power?

HF pumps are designed for volume. The impeller is sized to move a lot of water over a small lift, so you get far more litres per minute than a standard centrifugal pump of the same power, at the cost of pressure.

Is it self-priming?

No. It needs a flooded suction or a foot valve and priming on the suction line.

What pipe size should I use?

Match the pump ports and avoid reducing on the suction side. Undersized suction pipe on a medium-flow pump causes cavitation and loss of performance.

What water can it handle?

Clean water without abrasive particles, and liquids not chemically aggressive to cast iron.
