The WaterBoost Big Blue Housing Spanner is a moulded ring spanner for opening and closing 10″ and 20″ Big Blue filter housings. The full-circle head grips the sump lugs all the way round, so it releases a tight housing without flexing, slipping or marking the bowl.
Long handle for extra leverage, no metal parts to corrode, and a hanging slot so it lives on the wall next to the filter instead of in the bottom of a toolbox.

WaterBoost Big Blue Housing Spanner
Changing a Big Blue cartridge should take two minutes. It usually doesn’t, because the sump has been torqued up by hand, left for six months and is now welded on by pressure and scale. A strap wrench slips, a screwdriver through the lugs snaps them off, and the housing ends up scarred or cracked.
The WaterBoost Big Blue Housing Spanner solves it properly. The head is a closed ring that drops over the sump and engages every moulded lug at once, spreading the load right around the bowl instead of concentrating it on one point. The long handle gives you the leverage to crack a seized housing, and because the whole tool is moulded in one piece there is nothing to rust, seize or scratch the plastic.

Why it works
- Closed ring, not a jaw. The head cannot spread under load, so the drive lugs stay engaged even when you lean on it.
- Load spread evenly. Four drive points around the circumference instead of one, which is what stops housings splitting at the lug.
- Long handle. Comfortable leverage on a seized sump, with a rounded grip that doesn’t dig into your palm.
- Non-marking. Moulded plastic will not gouge or score the bowl, so the housing stays clear enough to see the cartridge.
- Nothing to corrode. Sits in a damp plant room or under a sink for years without rusting to the wall.
- Hanging slot. Keep it on the bracket beside the filter so it’s there at the next cartridge change.
What it fits
Suits standard Big Blue / jumbo filter housings in 10" and 20" lengths, including WaterBoost housings and the common industry equivalents. If your housing takes a 4½" × 10" or 4½" × 20" cartridge, this is the spanner for it.
Not suitable for slimline 2½" housings or for commercial RO vessels, which use a different sump diameter.
How to use it
- Isolate the supply and open a downstream tap, or press the pressure-release button on the housing cap, to drop the pressure to zero.
- Slide the spanner up over the sump until the internal lugs seat against the moulded ribs.
- Turn anti-clockwise (viewed from below) to release. Steady, even pressure — no shock loading.
- Change the cartridge, clean the sump and grease the O-ring with silicone before refitting.
- Hand-tighten on reassembly, then nip up with the spanner only. Over-tightening is what makes the next change difficult.

Standard delivery is free on most orders. Some items may incur a delivery charge depending on weight, size or value. Any applicable charge will be displayed at checkout.
Deliveries will typically be made between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
Next day delivery:
Next working day delivery is available for a £16.50 + VAT delivery charge.
Orders must be placed before 12 noon to qualify for next working day delivery. Orders placed after 12 noon on Thursday but before noon on Friday will be delivered the following Monday. Orders placed after 12 noon on Friday will be delivered on Tuesday.
