Pump overview

The Grundfos MAGNA1 32-120 is a high-efficiency variable-speed circulator pump from the Magna 1 family — Grundfos’s simple, reliable choice when straightforward, energy-efficient circulation is required without the advanced control of the Magna 3.

Within the Magna 1 range, the 32-120 is the flagship 32mm model — maximum head and flow in the threaded MAGNA1 range, for demanding commercial circuits and large heat pump systems. The 32mm (G 2″) port and standard 180 mm port-to-port length mean it drops into the spot of the older fixed-speed pump it’s replacing without re-piping.

A permanent-magnet motor with integrated frequency converter matches flow and head to system demand, cutting electricity use against older circulators by a substantial margin. EuP 2015 compliant with an Energy Efficiency Index of 0.20. Backed by a 2-year Grundfos manufacturer warranty.

What does the model number 32-120 mean?

The Magna 1 naming convention reads as port size – maximum head in decimetres. So 32-120 = 32mm port with 12 m maximum head. The 32-120 has a standard 180 mm port-to-port length, shared across the entire 32mm Magna 1 range.

Will the MAGNA1 32-120 replace my existing pump?

In most UK systems, yes. The 180 mm port-to-port length matches the standard footprint for 32mm (G 2″) circulators, so it fits the spot of the older fixed-speed pump it’s replacing without re-piping. The Magna 1 supports proportional pressure and constant pressure control, plus three constant-curve speed settings. The pump housing is cast iron — for closed-circuit heating and cooling. For potable water or open-vent systems, a stainless steel Magna 1 N variant is required instead.

How quiet is it?

The Magna 1 uses a permanent-magnet motor with no mechanical seal, so it runs significantly quieter than older asynchronous circulators. There’s no published dB(A) figure on the datasheet — but in practice it’s quiet enough for installation in airing cupboards and utility rooms without nuisance.

Next day delivery:
